W.W.II German SS Police MP34 Styer Solothurn 9MM sub machine gun. This Styer Solothurn designed MP34 was used by the German military during WWII. The MP34 is Swiss designed Austrian produced with typical Swiss/Austrian/German over built quality. At the time of its production, old-world craftsmanship still drove gun building, though modern mass-production techniques ensured what is arguably the most meticulously well-built submachine gun in history. Big chunks of forged steel accounted for the exhaustive machining. That machining included everything including the magazine well and the buttplate. The MP34 was a blowback-operated, select-fire submachine gun. It was alternately chambered for the 9mm Parabellum, 9x23mm Steyr and 9x25mm Mauser cartridges. A smattering intended predominantly for South American and Chinese markets were chambered the .45 ACP round. This MP-34 was bought as a parts set years ago. The parts are all matching and marked with the Waffenamt code WaA623 Steyr-Daimler-Puch, and a rare Police Eagle with L marked on the stock as a contract gun for the SS Police. I created a dummy receiver from strap steel and fabricated the locking ears at the rear of the dummy receiver so the hinged top cover would latch. I like the dummy guns made from parts sets with non-firing receivers since they are legal to own anywhere and a great piece of history.

Here is a photo of the locking ears that allow the top cover to latch. This is an amazing testament to the high quality of pre-war manufacturing.

That is a really great build. The quality of manufacturing of that gun, as well as one of my favorites, Berretta Model 38a, are just unmatchable. Thank u for sharing. It looks so good, before you stated parts kit, I thought it was fully functional.

Very nice example of the MP34 and excellent work on the display, but this is not SS. This is a Luftwaffe contract gun from 1938. The contract also ran in 1939. In 1939 the "SSW" commercial logo was replaced with the "660" code. The "eagle L" is a Luftwaffe acceptance mark, exactly the same as found on K98 rifles and G29o rifles. The Luftwaffe G29o rifles were made in the same factory at the same time as this, with the same "eagle L" acceptance mark.

There is an "eagle L" marking used for police property marking on pistols, but the L is offset to the side of the eagle rather than beneath it and the sizing is much different. The eagle L used on police pistols had nothing to do with the SS however, just normal police units.

Good catch on the "eagle L" marking CurioCollector.

Here is a view of the Polizei Eagle/L weapons inspector marking on a Steyr M12 pistol showing the orientation of the "L" under the eagle's wing in the Police version of this inspection marking.

In some versions, such as leather goods, the single letter will be found stamped on the breast of the police eagle
