warguy Posted November 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2018 Many years ago, I pursued all 9 of the Eickhorn Field Marshall series officers swords. Those familiar know this is not too difficult with the exception of the Prinz Eugen and especially the Lutzow. I was lucky eneough to find a mint Lutzow from a firend that lives not to far away when he was selling off his collection. It is depicted in the second to last photo. Most of the others came from shows. As I was nearing completion, I decided to build the case. In the first shot, you can see I had the Eickhorn logo etched in the glass on the front. The case lights. I placed the name of each sword engraved onto a brass placque in front of each example. Makes for a highlight in my warroom. I hope you enjoy. warguy Posted November 4, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted November 4, 2018 Thank you all for your nice comments. Haven't collected edged weapons for a while but I sure enjoy the ones I have. These days I concentrate on Luftwaffe and early Marine Corps mainly.
SARGE Posted November 4, 2018 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2018 A super display method and a great completed collection. Perhaps you could name the sword models so other collectors might know what to look for in the Field Marshal series? Here is an original Eickhorn point of sale (POS) wall hanger display card that shows some of the named Field Marshal swords along with a few others. The back side helps the customer determine how long a sword he needs along with other helpful information. Again, I love the work you did on your display cabinet. warguy Posted November 6, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted November 6, 2018 Thanks again for all the nice comments. I will try to post the names of all of the individual models this weekend when I have more time. I have a funny memory in that regard. When my daughter was about 5 years old, I thought her a little song to learn the names of each one of the swords. Before long, I could point at any one of these and she could name them all correctly from memory. Ahhhh, the young mind.
