Tonomachi Posted November 15, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2018 I was very lucky to get this for my collection awhile back. The reference I have refers to this badge as the first type Alianti (glider) brevetto (wing) issued circa 1927. There were two patterns, one with "I" for Nationalita Italiana and the second models came with an "A" (red), "B" (blue) and C (unknown color) for first, second and third class. They were made by Loriola of Milano and a second pattern was made by Boeri of Roma. This first pattern was used by both civilians and the para-military and considered the Model 1927 replaced by the Model 1935 by Boeri. The Glider School was at Guidonia, Italy and the fascist youth (GIL) pre-aviation cadets were among some of the first glider pilots. These early glider pilots took part in the 1936 Olympics.
