Salvage Sailor Posted December 5, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2018 Aloha Everyone, It's always difficult to present a piece like this in it's true color, so I'll post photos with and without flash. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe this is a RAF Veterans' pin for a blazer lapel Blue enamel overlaid on a sterling silver wing topped with a crown. Link to comment
Salvage Sailor Posted December 5, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted December 5, 2018 Origin: This came with along a large grouping of a USAAC/USAAF veterans mementos which included the photos and formation badges of the 4th Indian Division I previously posted. He was a pre-WWII enlisted Air Corps mechanic and technician who was commissioned in 1940 and posted to the Western Desert as an "observer" and US technical representative to work on lend-lease aircraft provided to the RAF in 1941. It may have been given to him then as a keepsake or later in his service during the war training RAF personnel in the States. Link to comment
