SARGE Posted December 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2018 Gents, Here is an example of a DDR plastic parade helmet that mimics the standard East German steel helmet. This distinctive steel helmet was first designed as the Model "B/II" test helmet by Dr. H. Hansel during WWII but was never adopted. It was subsequently taken up in testing by the East Germans and was eventually adopted as the Model 56 helmet in 1956. This plastic version of the helmet was made for parade and honor formations of the NVA as the Model 1957 on 17 June 1957.
Proud Kraut Posted December 30, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2018 Sarge, the paint of the plastic helmet looks real metallic. IMHO much more realistic than the Bundeswehr counterpart "Helm, Repräsentation, gänzend" (helmet, representation, shiny).
