I picked up this helmet in the early 80s, I think I paid $70, and that was a lot of money to me! Vendor didnt have any veteran history, but Im glad I did buy it. As you can see, it has the camo net with some natural foliage still attached in several places. Can any body tell me what it says inside?

Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Appreciate the comment, at that time, I pretty much only bought US militaria (actually still do)and money was tight (actually always has been). I broke the "rule" of looking at something at a show, putting it down and walking away, luck was on my side as I convinced my self I should go back and buy it. Nicer Japanese helmets have always been harder to find than German one's. Once I bought it, I haven't regretted spending the money at all. As I paid attention to Japanese helmets after that, I came to realize I got a very good artifact at a very reasonable price. With Eric's help, I know the name of the IJA soldier, next time I exhibit it, I'll add that info to the label.

Have a Happy New Year!

I would not regret spending the money either - I'd say it was an investment. Having the name is particularly nice. I'm not sure where to start research if that's what you want to pursue, but I would encourage it! Gorgeous helmet.

Did you look on the backside of the forehead interior liner pad for the quartermaster stamping and is it legible ? This would give you a date of the helmet. Post a picture of it if you can't read it.

A named Japanese helmet with original net is a very nice treasure. Of course you know that since you have kept it for so long. ;)

Great example of a well used combat helmet! I love the multi-piece leather used in the liner. It would be interesting to see what the date is on the cushion of the front pad.
