509thPIB Posted January 6, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2019 These days there are more reference books than ever. Which ones are the better ones for WWII German Wehrpasses and Soldbuchs?
KVSkelton Posted January 11, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2019 Personally, I've found the first book you posted "The Wehrpass and Soldbuch of the Wehrmacht" by Scapini and Gorzanelli to be my go-to reference for the subject. I would highly recommend that book. Great full color illustrations throughout as well. For a decent overview of Thrid Reich documents during the war, I like the 3 volume "German Third Reich Era Documents" by Meinz and Young. Volume One focuses on Paramilitary and Civilian Organizations, Volume Two on Military Documents (including Wehrpass and Soldbuchs), and Volume Three on Occupied/Axis Country Documents. These are 20 years old now and may not be up to date, but I've found them very handy for an overview of TR documents in general. Many photos though all are in black and white. Hope that helps a little! Kev
