SARGE Posted January 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 7, 2019 Gents, This is a presentation sword to a Sr. NCO for 25 years of faithful service with the Deutsche Gemeindepolizei (GEMPO). The GEMPO were the police who served in small towns with under +/- 10,000 population. These policemen were absorbed into the nationalized Schutzpolizei (SCHUPO), who served in larger cities, during the later phases of the war. These officers might be characterized as "Community Service" type policemen who handled almost everything themselves on the local level. This is a very high quality presentation grade sword with a generic design of lances and swords on the obverse langet and a lion head pommel. The blade is fully etched with a presentation inscription to the policeman with his dates of service and town. These P guard swords were worn until the introduction of the standardized Polizei-degen in 1938. They could continue to be worn as awards but not in formation.
