vintageproductions Posted January 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2019 I have had this sitting in a box of can-u-id's for awhile and figured I should post it here. It is heavy woven. Black body with a white border, and black and white fringe at the end. The other end just has a small button like loop on it. It's three quarters of a inch wide and almost 25 inches long. Thanks for any info.
Rod Posted January 18, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi, It's definitely not a Japanese military (army or navy) sword knot. Is there a reason for asking about it here? Sometimes old drapery odds find their way on to Japanese swords...
vintageproductions Posted January 23, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2019 Came in a large collection of sword tassles we bought in Japan a few years ago.
tiger41 Posted January 23, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2019 Bob, More a question then a guess, I agree its not military....but how about a civilian official like police....after all they carried swords and daggers ?????
SARGE Posted January 24, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2019 It does not look like a sword tassel to me either. Police swords had entirely different leather and/or cloth tassels. The Japanese have a long history of weaving cords like this but they are worn on clothing rather than on swords. Some Japanese knot variations. John- Could be. It came from the guy we buy all the stuff from in Osaka, and you have seen the great pieces that come out of there on each trip.
