RAF Ferry Command - US Civilian Contract Flyer

I have previously posted this uniform on the USMF, so for those that have seen it there I apologize for the repetition. Just thought some other RAF folks might like to see it here on the WMF.

This is an Id'd uniform grouping that belonged to an American contract flyer for RAF Ferry Command. Even the civilian contract flyers, that flew for RAF Ferry Command, were required to wear a uniform of some sort in case of bailout and capture. This uniform is in actuality a US "suntans' 4 pocket service jacket, with Ferry Command rank and insignia added. The jacket buttons are all nickle RAFFC . The photo is of this gentleman wearing this very jacket. He first flew for Ferry Command and then later joined the British ATA. I believe that the sleeve rank is for a Captain. Ferry Command retained commercial airline ranks, 1st Officer, 2nd Officer, Captain etc. I'm not totally up on the commercial rank system so just not 100% sure of his rank. If anyone out there knows for sure it would be appreciated if you passed that along.

I never get tired of seeing this. I've never been able to find a brevet (wing) that I thought was real, let alone a tunic! This is a fantastic piece and extremely tough to find.

Thanks Allan. I do have one more Ferry Command jacket. It's a BD in the official dark blue color. If you think it might be of some interest, when I get a few minutes of spare time I'll photo that one and start another post.
