Austrian Jaeger Officer Sword

Gents,

This is an Austrian Jaeger (Mountain Troops) Officer short sword. It has a plain blued steel scabbard and is worn in a frog. The shape of the guard is like that of the Austrian Infantry Officer sword but this sword has a short straight blade instead of the curved blade found on the Infantry Officer sword. The guard has a cutout Imperial Austro-Hungarian eagle and the "K" initial of Emperor Karl. This dates this sword to the latter part of World War I after the death of Emperor Franz Joseph.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am told by collectors in Austria that these are quite scarce there. Particularly with the hand worked cutout guards like this. I suppose that GIs carried most of them off or had the destroyed during occupation.
