Sully Posted January 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2019 This dagger came from the estate of a family member. I don't know 3rd Reich Items very well and am curious about this piece. Can anyone tell me something about it? Is it real?
Rakkasan187 Posted January 27, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2019 Sully, You will have to take better pictures but from what I am seeing you have a nice orignal Hitler Youth Leader Dagger made by E.F. Horster & Co. Solingen. The maker marks M7/36 identifies the maker. Try to take better pictures of the inscription on the blade, the handle, the scabbard, which appears to be blue pebbled leather in the picture. It looks alright, but again try to take some better clearer pictures. It appears to be a great dagger, in very good condition. Some light wear to the scabbard but overall an excellent period piece. Sully Posted January 28, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted January 28, 2019 I'm sorry about the quality of the photos. My current camera leaves quite a bit to be desired for close ups.
Rakkasan187 Posted January 29, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2019 Sully, Based on what I can see, it looks to be a good Dagger. Do you have any history about the relative who brought it back? Leigh
Sully Posted February 10, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted February 10, 2019 Turns out this piece is one of the 1960's reproductions. Really well done by still a fake.
