edstorey Posted February 18, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted February 18, 2019 No, he was an RCASC driver with the 13th Brigade, the Canadian Home Defence Army formation which was part of ATF 9 and assisted in recapturing Kiska from the Japanese. The big surprise was that the Japanese had all left.

stratasfan Posted February 26, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2019 Does anything remain of the Japanese occupation these days? I was emailing last year with a manager of the visitor center at the Aleutians National Park, and she was listing off things that remain from the Japanese on Kiska. Actually, try looking on Google at images, and you'll see some interesting things! She actually sent me some really interesting books about the remains of things.
