Bob Hudson Posted March 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2019 A local collectibles shop owner sent me some photos of a dagger. It is SS type with RZM number M7/36 (Horster). In looking around the interweb for info, it seems that most if not all of the SS daggers with the M7/36 number are fakes. I read in a couple places that this RZM number was certainly not used on Himmler SS Honor Daggers. Does that mean no SS DAGGER had M7/36? I know the Spanish made repros with that RZM number, and the eagle's wings on those are angular with straight - not curved lines on the wing tips. The one seems to have curved tips. AB45 Posted March 2, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 2, 2019 Hi Bad copy, so bad you do not really need to know if there was the RZM number 7/36. Found in the German Militaria Fund Forum: There is no original SS dagger with RZM 7/36, only with militaria321 and eGun and there are the "blue-eyed bidders" also always less, https://www.militaria-fundforum.de/forum/index.php?thread/275528-fzm-m7-36/ Gruß AB45

The owner was not happy to hear what I had suspected and you and others have confirmed. I would like to have seen it in person to see if the eagle looked as beat up in person as it does in the photos sent me. In the past few years I have evaluated 4 "SS" daggers. 75% of that small sample were fakes - only one was real. I've had a lot of non-SS TR blades of all shapes and sizes come through and I think they were all real.
