Allan H. Posted March 4, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 4, 2019 It has always amazed me that French awards came in cardboard boxes, but if you wanted, you could purchase a nicer case. This is gorgeous. I cannot wait to see the diamonds example. Any chance we can see the certificate? Allan

pvon Posted March 4, 2019 Author Share #11 Posted March 4, 2019 My friend has about 12 or so of the certificates! To officers and enlisted all time frames! They are large! Maybe this weekend I can get pics Also has some with diamonds I will take pics of! Some of the french don't even mention diamonds in medal when selling! You have to really keep your eyes open for these! That medal with gold is worth maybe 2,000,00 or more! Just for gold! Pawn shops buy cameos for gold and only want gold My friend buys the cameo for display with medal! He gets them for 10.00ea! Makes a display look nice PVON

12A54 Posted March 5, 2019 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2019 If you ever get the chance, visit the “Musee de la Legion d’Honneur” in Paris right next to the Musee D’Orsay. It is fantastic and has so many examples of this medal in all variants (gold, diamonds, etc.) as well as other French medals and decorations and medals from every country in the world.
