Brian Keith Posted March 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2019 Australian forces used a mix of British Pattern 58 and US style equipment for their ground troops in Vietnam. In this display you will see the Australian Back Pack, a water bladder, the equipment belt and yoke with various pouches and the unmistakable Digger hat. Most of this equipment was made in Australia. I purchased these items at a collector liquidation auction. The uniform had sold prior to me getting to the sale. I don't know where the original collector acquired the items. I made the photo during an exhibit we did locally for the 4th of July celebration, the exhibit featured the Vietnam War. The hat is dated 1968 and belongs to a buddy. Thanks for looking. Turbokidd Posted January 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2020 Thanks for posting, very interesting stuff. I recently saw the movie Danger Close, about the battle of Long Tran. I didn’t know much about Australia’s contribution to the Vietnam War. I posted a question about it in the movies section.
ParaOps Posted January 13, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 13, 2020 Nicely done. The Vietnam era equipment was worn into the early 90's. Paul
