SARGE Posted March 19, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2019 Gents, Here is a white summer police uniform as worn by pre-war and wartime Japanese Police. It is a white cotton washable tunic with gilt removable police buttons. It has three pockets with the single breast pocket made without a flap. The hip pockets do have flaps and there are a single row of buttons down the front. The high standing collar has gilt metal Police insignia on each side and metal police rank insignia is worn on the removable shoulder boards and at the cuffs. The straight leg trousers are also matching white washable cotton made with the usual pockets.
SARGE Posted March 19, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted March 19, 2019 Here is a circa 1920s photo of this uniform in wear by the Tokyo Police. The picture comes from a "Japanese Police" presentation photograph album in English that is in my collection. Notice the white top peaked cap worn with this uniform. Also notice the short sword worn on an under-belt through the sword slit on the left side of the white tunic at the hip.
