The feldgrau material is genuine, from an what was left of an original Wehrmacht/Das Heer uniform.  All the awards are genuine.

Great looking medals and badges, thanks for sharing!

I don't specifically collect EK1's, but I have added a couple uncommon variants. The first is a B.H. Mayer that was put together by Friedrich Sedlatzek, recognized by its 2-disc screw back components. The 2nd is by Otto Schickle, an early brass core variant with a "clamshell" screw back.

You don't often see the 1957er spang attached to a postwar Imperial 1st Class IC.

pvon...  Post #9...

Is that LtCol John R. Angolia (USA Ret.) on the left side of the picture?  Is it a recent photograph? (LtCol Angolia must be close to 90 years old, if he's still alive, and I hope he is!)

Kia kaha...  Post #41...

That's definitely a 1957 version 1914 EK1 mit Spange.  Genuine, and a really great - looking piece.

S.ChrisKelly,

Jack Angolia is still alive and kicking.  He lives here in the Kansas City Metro and I usually see him at local militaria shows.  As a matter of fact I will probably see him this Saturday at the Kansas City Military Collector Club (KCMCC) show at the Dwight Cowles #370 American Legion.

Angolia was banned from the US forum for selling faked US uniforms so by default he is banned from this forum too.

Time to dig out the Iron Cross collection and post a few.

Mein erstes Eisernes Kreuz...

Puchased from The Collector's Armoury at 800 Slater's Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, sometime 1985.  The price tag is original to the purchase.  Handwritten by a short, mustachioed man from Canada I only knew as "Roderick".

The cross is the "rattling" kind, the suspension ring is unhallmarked and welded shut, the ribbon(s) are genuine, the center is magnetic and the ribbon bar is an authentic later addition.

The medal is genuine.

The case is a high - end reproduction, and worth the purchase price (inexpensive).

The woman is a fantasy.  Banknote vignette on a 1939 twenty Reichsmark note.

Look at this!

An Unusual Second War German Medal Bar with Zinc EK2

Bar is mounted as worn German style, comprising: Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939, a single piece construction in zinc alloy, silvered and blackened; 1936 Olympic Medal, in silvered iron, magnetic; Police 8 Years’ Service Award, in silvered bronze. In near mint condition; Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939 is very scarce.
