Mark M Posted June 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2019 I thought I would post a uniform regulations question to see if there are any Soviet uniform experts on the forum. I know the NKVD/MVD/MGB had separate regulations from the military. Prior to 1955 their caps were blue top, with red band and rasberry piping. In 1955 the Soviet military adopted the all gray parade uniform and visor, with the NKVD/MVD/MGB following in 1956. Did the NKVD adopt the M1955 insignia for use on their caps before making the switch to the gray top caps? The reason I ask is the visor below, which is a mix of pre 1955 colors and post 1956 insignia. Is it legit or just a very well made fake? One questionable thing is the makers diamond, which according to the Soviet markings book was used until 1958. Does anyone have any thoughts??? Mark M Posted June 23, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2019 And this is what the cap in 1956 would have looked like with the gray top and new blue piping. Notice the wreath, cockade and visor leaves are the same on both caps.
