Picked these up in a small lot...I was under the impression that the RAF only used cloth wings, but I know little of British stuff. A tad shorter than full-sized US wings, somewhere around 2 3/4". Are these a uniform item, or sweetheart? They're nice quality

Most likely a sweetheart pin and not a uniform item.

I only know metal wings as sweetheart items. Sis has lots of British military friends in her research, and everything we've ever done with RAF wings comes down to metal pins being sweetheart items. And they come/came in all sizes!
