Ben@HI Posted December 25, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2019 I found this a while back and kept it as I don't have any other German helmets anymore. is there anyway to research the name?
ww1collector1 Posted December 25, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2019 From what I've been told, the Bundesarkiv might have some records. I've triesd writing them (auf Deutsch) and haven't received a reply. Think the best bet might be to find a German researcher that goes to Freiburg. Might be pricey. There are those on here who probably know a lot more about this than I do. John
Proud Kraut Posted December 27, 2019 Share #3 Posted December 27, 2019 A request for a research should be addressed to the Bundesarchiv/Deutsche Dienststelle (WAst) with this form: https://www.bundesarchiv.de/DE/Content/Downloads/Benutzen/antrag-persbez-recherche-militaer.pdf?__blob=publicationFile Last name, first name, date and place of birth of the soldier are mandatory. As far as I know the information costs about 20 - 30 Euro. If you need help with the translation let me know.
