vintageproductions Posted October 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2018 Had a nice walk-in the showroom today. One of the pieces was this crate. Does anyone know what it was used for? From my basic searches it looks like it is police related but not sure. Thanks.
gwb123 Posted October 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2018 "Verkehr" seems to have multiple meanings, ranging from transport to communication with people.
Proud Kraut Posted October 21, 2018 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2018 From what I found out there are two possible meanings of the abrevation GBA: 1. Generalbevollmächtigter für den Arbeitseinsatz (department that organized the compulsory labor in WW II) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalbevollm%C3%A4chtigter_f%C3%BCr_den_Arbeitseinsatz 2. Gleisbahnwagen fürs Betriebsamt (classification of Reichsbahn motor-draisines) http://www.klv11.de/ If you need further translation let me know. gwb123 Posted October 21, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2018 Lars, Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that a Wehrmacht eagle on the side. That suggests a military use to me. For all we know GAB could simply have been an abbreviation of the type of equipment stored inside.
Proud Kraut Posted October 21, 2018 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2018 With these short wings I would say it's a Deutsche Reichsbahn eagle. https://www.weitze.net/militaria/91/Deutsche_Reichsbahn_Schirmmuetzenadler_fuer_Beamte__317691.html
