Bugme Posted October 26, 2018 #1 Posted October 26, 2018 Built by the Knights of St. John in the city of Valletta, Malta, this palace now houses the Presidential offices. It is not open to the public every day so, finding it open on a public day is a treat. With over 30 visits into the capital, we finally found it with doors open. It was worth the wait.
Bugme Posted October 26, 2018 Author #5 Posted October 26, 2018 My affection for headgear was obvious since a large share of my photo's are helmets.
Bluehawk Posted October 26, 2018 #6 Posted October 26, 2018 What a joy it must be to see all of that in person!
Thor996 Posted October 26, 2018 #8 Posted October 26, 2018 Wow, that's very cool!!! Thank you for posting that
Brig Posted October 27, 2018 #10 Posted October 27, 2018 Wow! What a treat! Exactly what I was going to say...verbatim. What a great place. Those helmets are ornate!
RustyCanteen Posted October 27, 2018 #11 Posted October 27, 2018 Amazing! Think of all the history, just associated with those artifacts alone. They represent a lot of stories told and untold.
irish Posted October 27, 2018 #12 Posted October 27, 2018 The hand work on those helmets is amazing, from the construction to the artistic detailing
gwb123 Posted October 27, 2018 #13 Posted October 27, 2018 A new direction for the helmet forum. Looks like hours of fun!
Brig Posted October 27, 2018 #14 Posted October 27, 2018 Helmet feuds can now be settled with jousting competitions!
Bugme Posted October 27, 2018 Author #15 Posted October 27, 2018 Thanks guys! I told my wife after seeing these helmets that now mine all suck.
Brig Posted October 28, 2018 #16 Posted October 28, 2018 Thanks guys! I told my wife after seeing these helmets that now mine all suck. Don't worry, I'm sure there are people who would gladly take them off your hands
Bugme Posted October 29, 2018 Author #17 Posted October 29, 2018 Don't worry, I'm sure there are people who would gladly take them off your handsLet's not get crazy. I once had a car that sucked but, I kept driving it since it was what I could afford.
RustyCanteen Posted October 29, 2018 #18 Posted October 29, 2018 Let's not get crazy. I once had a car that sucked but, I kept driving it since it was what I could afford. Yeah but these engraved and decorated helmets really make your painted ones look lame; to save your coolness you can send your WWII collection to Brig and I. Also is that 'battle' damage on the 3rd pic down in post 5?
Bugme Posted November 9, 2018 Author #19 Posted November 9, 2018 Also is that 'battle' damage on the 3rd pic down in post 5? Yes it is, there were several pieces with these musket ball dents. While it may have stopped penetration, I bet it didn't stop broken ribs.
RustyCanteen Posted November 10, 2018 #20 Posted November 10, 2018 Yes it is, there were several pieces with these musket ball dents. While it may have stopped penetration, I bet it didn't stop broken ribs. Ouch. I guess that was better than a fatal wound (especially in those days), but talk about a hard hit.
