Tonomachi Posted October 30, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2018 I purchased this uniform basically for the bullion Canadian paratrooper wing but couldn't bring myself to remove it as the overall uniform didn't cost that much. It is named to a Sgt. L. R. Stewart and dated October 26, 1953. I don't think that Stewart served with the Canadian Parachute Regiment during WW2 as there are only two ribbons which I haven't identified yet. Tonomachi Posted October 30, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted October 30, 2018 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & 1939 - 1945 War Medal? Many thanks for the identification so maybe a late war replacement and the war ended just after he joined the Parachute Regiment.
captainofthe7th Posted November 4, 2018 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2018 Another note on the CVSM is that it lacks the maple leaf device for overseas service. So, I think your hypothesis is correct. Rob
edstorey Posted January 10, 2019 Share #10 Posted January 10, 2019 The parachute wings mean that he was parachute qualified, in that he has taken and passed the parachute course, it does not necessarily mean that he served in an airborne unit. The uniform is Dress Blues, something that would be worn in the Mess.
