Kanemono Posted November 6, 2018 #1 Posted November 6, 2018 This stein belonged to a reservist who served in Husaren-Regiment Nr 9. This regiment was founded in 1815 and garrisoned at Straßburg. It was assigned to the XV. Armeekorps. It has many colorful scenes spread over its exterior. Its owner served in the regiment’s Eskadron Nr 3 from 1901 to 1913. His name was Schmidt. His fellow troops are listed on the side in two vertical lines. This is a pottery stein not porcelain. There is a hole in the handle which is to allow air to escape during firing. I do not believe this stein ever had a pewter lid. Here is a photograph with a group of reservists drinking from their pottery steins without lids.
