Scanned this nice foto from an article in the U.S. Army's Soldiers Magazine of July 1975, article deals in part with a brief history of the Corps, it's then current mission (in the early to mid 1970s), and it's team efforts with the U.S. Army (SETAF) stationed in Italy.

I just saw this. I was stationed at Camp Darby, Italy in 1974-1976. I remember that issue, and the Carabinieri at the front gate, especally on those occasions when they wore the dress uniform pictured on that Soldiers magazine cover. It was a treat to have a meal at the Carabinieri barracks on post.

Was in Vicenza with the 1/509th Inf (Abn) 1980 to 1983 11B/11C. The "Carbs" as we called them were very loyal to the USA !

Very anti-communist, a big deal in those days - there were some excellent anti-terrorist units

Any of our convoys had them along, "escorts" & they had the best motorcycles - MotoGuzzi & Ducati, & autos - Alpha-Romeo Giuliettas

They packed Beretta 38 SMGs & 380 pistols

The Carabinieri was a national military police force with FBI like ability

Oh back in like 2000, the Corps' Band in Full Uniform performed in NYC's Grand Central Train Station, drew quite a crowd of people, I happened to catch it as well, they played a lot of Opera songs, superb. We guess they were touring Manhattan, maybe different places in America too emoticonsmile.png.ab715f94fa89aa9717f932170a645782.png
