Got this stuff in the mail. German rifle grenade,Japanese Type-4 grenades,bread bag,canteen from Burma,canteen no stopper,helmet,Off To War banner. Rich A. in Pa.

Got this stuff. Japanese civil helmet,Navy saki bottle,saki cups,soldier bags,rank tabs,pilot wing,assault boat pilot wing,cotton flag,Type-4 grenades.  Rich A. in Pa.

I always like to see what you found new.  Meanwhile you probably have thousends of the Japanese grenades in your collection, right? Awesome stuff!

Question about those Japanese grenades. What's the fabric tie? Is that what you'd pull instead of a pin? These look like the "thermal detonator" that Princess Leia uses in RotJ when she is dressed as the bounty hunter! :) 

 

How would the Japanese have carried their grenades? Are they metal or ceramic?

Thanks. To use them you untie the cloth tie. Remove the rubber cap. Take the striker and run it over the ignition material. Like a match or a road flare. The ignition lights a 5 second fuse. They are ceramic. Most are white clay.  Rich A. in Pa.
