Tonomachi Posted November 22, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2018 This is a well worn French Army Marine Infantry Paratrooper beret badge that has a number of hand cut notches along one side. Does anyone know what these notches signify? Could they be number of jumps or maybe number of combat jumps? Any ideas?

Brig Posted November 22, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 22, 2018 I don't think the French Marines have that many combat jumps in their history. Maybe he wanted to improve on the design during boredom, like a twisted rope?

Tonomachi Posted April 26, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted April 26, 2019 I recently came across another beret badge with hand cut something along the outer rim so this was something done by more than one person.
Beezman Posted August 21, 2019 Share #7 Posted August 21, 2019 The consensus is that these marks are for jumps. Most likely training jumps.
