Kanemono Posted November 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2018 Saxon Officer’s Pickelhaube, Leib-Grenadier- Regiment. The wappen consists of a silver sunburst with Saxony’s golden Coat-of-Arms in its center. It is the opposite of Saxon Line-Regiments’ golden sunburst against a silver Coat-of-Arms. Also, all of its furniture is silver, where a Line-Regiments is gold, including the correct flat chin scales, spike base, officers’ stars and trim. The kokarden are incorrect but this is how the helmet was worn. I bought this helmet in the 1970’s from the family of the man who wore it during the war. He immigrated to the United States after the war and brought this helmet, his regimental pipe and stein with him. I arrived at the auction too late to get the pipe or stein. The original wappen holes have been covered over during an arsenal re-fit.
Bugme Posted November 27, 2018 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2018 Too bad you weren't able to get all his military mementos but, I think you got the best part.
