teamski Posted December 4, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2018 One of my favorite groups is this Jutland group. Frederick Short Was born in 1899 joined the Royal Navy at the age of 14. As a boy sailor, he was assigned to HMS Ganges which was a boy sailor training base. He went on to become a telegrapher and was assigned to HMS Revenge. He was present for the the battle of Jutland. After the war, he continued to serve, earning his Long Service and Good Conduct medal in 1933. He retired in 1940 only to return to duty immediately; being assigned to HMS Illustrious, and was aboard ship during the attack on Taranto. After serving in the Pacific aboard HMS Patroller, Frederick finally retired after serving two wars. He passed away in 1987. The medal group is mounted as worn with the large pin on the back. -Ski Link to comment
