SARGE Posted December 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2018 Circa 1983 Sig-Sauer Model P6 9mm Police Trainer Pistol. This “Red Handle” semi-automatic training pistol has red grips and a non-firing breech with solid barrel. The P6 is the German Police version of the P225 used by US Police agencies. The slide is property marked to the Nordrhein-Westfalen Polizei. Military and Police forces use red color rubber knives, longarms, and pistols for training in order to show they are safe to use as non-lethal (less-than-lethal) training aids. These seldom come on to the market but here is a deactivated Nordrhein-Westfalen Police trainer to show the type. Notice the pistol has been made safe by blocking the barrel with a metal insert, drilling holes in the barrel chamber, and making internal changes so that externally the pistol will still function in the normal manner. The grips have been painted red to indicate the condition of the pistol. This pistol has all matching serial numbers and the pistol and holster are property marked to the NW Polizei. Proud Kraut Posted December 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2018 Great gun, Sarge! Have neve seen this red handle variation before. One addition: The Bundeswehr uses blue rubber guns "Blueguns" for training purposes. Here's an example picture. http://photobw.info/kommando-spezialkrafte-
SARGE Posted December 21, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted December 21, 2018 Thank you for the link to the "Blueguns" used by the BW. We were politically correct years ago and used blue shaded qualification silhouette targets. We called them "Blue Smirfs" after a TV character of the time. Most police forces have since then gone to a more standardized B/W center of mass target but I did love the Blue Smirfs.
