teamski Posted January 17, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2019 As you know, the 1990's was the heyday for collecting Soviet medals as they flooded the market and were really cheap. Now, that is a thing of the past as the market simply dried up and Putin's bans didn't help. I don't have a lot of Soviet stuff, but I do have this grouping I got about 25 years ago or so while I was stationed in the UK. For the price, it was the best I could get at the time. The Order of the Red Star matches the book but the second medal in it, the Medal for Battle Merit is missing. I assume he lost it while in service. Regardless, it is extensively documented which attracted me like a moth to light. Unfortunately the soldier's photo was taken out probably for good reason. Thanks for looking! -Ski p.s. The grouping includes the Liberation of Prague and the Capture of Budapest medals. Interestingly, he also qualified for the Victory over Japan medal.
