I though I would share some of my early camo pattern material with you. My uniform is dated 1963.

has a place for shoulder boards, can anyone share a pic of the proper boards for it

Very nice Blumentarn NVA marked outfit.

 

Since it is NVA marked you need the military style of subdued shoulder boards. From around 1956 subdued rank insignia was authorized. Theoretically, the embroidered rank insignia consisting of long bars in narrow or wide sizes would be worn on the upper left sleeve of jackets not made for shoulder boards.. Here are a couple of examples of these on cards. Camouflage outfits like yours, that are made for shoulder boards. should have the NVA brown color subdued shoulder boards with grey plastic pips instead of the aluminum or gilt metal pips worn on regular shoulder boards. Here are a couple of examples including one for a subdued Generaloberst.
