The Turkestan Legion * Turkistanische Legion in German * were part of the WH * Heeres * during WWII. Often referred to as Ostlegionen * Eastern Legions in English *. Unit was raised in 1941, most of the troops were liberated Red Army POWs.

The Turkestan Legion fought on the Western Front in France, Italy, Croatia and Yugoslavia.

This is the 2nd pattern introduced mid war 1943, insignia is found in woven and printed examples. The woven insignia were made by the German Co. BeVo-Wuppertal * Lucas Vorsteher & Ewald Vorsteher * from the city of Wuppertal-Bremen.

It's important to note that the woven insignia were only made on FIELD GREY base.

Below are two Genuine woven examples

I wanted to add these KNOWN REPRODUCTIONS that commonly found and currently being sold by sellers as Original period pieces.

Below are known examples of Reproduction Turkestan Legion insignia. Both are pretty good fakes that will fool most but none-the-less they aren't original. These insignia were never made on a Black base, they were only produced on a Field Grey base. Additionally the weave isn't correct either for the time period. These Reproductions don't glow and will pass the burn test, they are commonly found on either a Black or Dark Green base.

The left side image of the insignia attached to piece of tunic shows the extent FRAUDS will go to deceive collectors. The insignia is identical to the Black base on the right side. The insignia attached to the tunic was purchased from a well known Dealer over 30 years ago.

Hopefully this post will help less experienced Collectors who may have a interest in German Foreign Legion Insignia.
