Some medal bars!

Never seen one like that! A bar where the mini (or are the full?) medals are attached? Almost reminds you of the Soviet medals with that metal backing. How cool! So . . . are these minis or fulls? Was this something that Imperial Germany did regularly?

Paul Great bar. I am purvey to Baden stuff since my Great Grandpa served his wartime service with them. Is the BSVM actually silver or Zink?

Medal bars like that were made to remove the medals so just the ribbon bar could be worn. Thanks for sharing.

I am often amazed by the haphazard order of the medals mounted in groups. Must be that back then no one really cared? Here is one of my favorite groups. The medals are mounted in the following order using the dates of the medals: 1864, 1871, 1866, 1864, 1898.

Another thing that catches my eye is how often Bavarian groups start off with the Iron Cross instead of their Bavarian medals. This group my be a little more understandable since it was assembled during the Nazi era.
