dag Posted March 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2019 Each of the British monarchs had their own "Cypher" that was sometimes put on buttons, badges, etc. Many just had the crown for Queen Victoria, or "King's crown" (used for all four kings between Victoria and Elizabeth), or Queen Elizabeth crown. But a few, such as the Royal Engineers buttons & badges, had the full cypher as well. Attached pictures from my Royal Engineer buttons. Link to comment
Brian Keith Posted March 9, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2019 Very interesting, thanks for the comparison! I suspect King Edward VIII is a hard one to find! BKW Link to comment

stratasfan Posted April 24, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2019 Super interesting and what a cool collection! I've seen Horse Guards buttons, and they used the Royal monogram on their buttons. I never thought to trace the monarchs through the ages. Lovely collection! Do you have these displayed together? Link to comment
dag Posted April 24, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted April 24, 2019 Thanks for the comments. I do have one display case with a variety of misc. US & foreign buttons (not displayed in one of several other display cases) with these six all in one column. I thought it is interesting how the British have the different cyphers, or at least different crowns, for the different monarchs thru the ages. Link to comment
