Hello,
From 1968 another improved inner lining for the steel helmet of the NVA was introduced.
This food was mostly made of plastic and could be better adapted to the shape of the head. It was fastened by means of tabs on 6 pins in the helmet. So the inner helmet could be replaced quickly and easily.
In addition to new helmets, the older M56 helmets were changed accordingly. The 3 holes of the old rivets were closed and 6 cotter pins were attached.

The inner helmet was used until 1990.
