Josef Posted April 23, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 23, 2019 Many times in late 50s and early 60s our school took field trips to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago were the U505 rests. We saw a film on its capture, the tours and how it was moved to the Museum. Back then when one went through the sub one could see the cups, plates, tablecloth and bunk mattresses, blankets, pillows. Personal items, original charts found and uniforms and hats, etc. My last visit in the 90s after 30 years all that was gone, some displayed as you followed the line into the sub. But much was vandalized or stolen during those decades. Was a shame to see and hear this.

gwb123 Posted April 24, 2019 Share #11 Posted April 24, 2019 Yes, you can visit it at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Steve If you go, they sell tickets to tour the inside of the sub. Be sure to buy one as soon as you arrive because they tend to sell out, as I discovered!
