vostoktrading Posted June 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2019 I recently picked up a couple odd & ends from a Nisei veteran's estate. It came with a few German items. I assume they are good (real) because of the source. Not sure exactly what they are. I was wondering in the Iron Cross is wrong for the box, Box looks like it's made for a different kind of cross (the kind that goes on the pocket?). Jon. Proud Kraut Posted June 16, 2019 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2019 Great items. The box looks like the ones I have seen for the Iron Cross 1st class. Your EK is 2nd class. The spread winged eagle is a Feldanzug uniform breast eagle. The diving eagle is the Fallschirmschuetzenabzeichen. Maybe you can post some close-ups of the other German ones and the DUI of course ;-) Lars

AB45 Posted June 16, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2019 The pendant with the twisted eyelet is from the 17th or 18th century. Gruß
vostoktrading Posted June 17, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted June 17, 2019 Thanks Gruss, I'll take closer shots and load them tomorrow when I get home from work. I might have to dig out by macro camera for this one. My phone might not be clear enough to read the small details. Jon.

AB45 Posted June 18, 2019 Share #11 Posted June 18, 2019 Post 10, First On the back is the Benedictine cross with the word "PAX" written above it - originally a Christ monogram, but also the Latin word for peace - the four letters "CSPB" in the outer corners of the cross mean again Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti - " Cross of the Holy Father Benedictus. "On the crossbar are engraved the initial letters of the incantations in which expresses the faith of the holy father of the order. http://www.kathpedia.com/index.php/Benediktus-Medaille Around 1900 The little medal and her Bernhard are already very old.
