Rod Posted July 28, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2019 The cap badge belonged to my grandfather who entered the Lovat Scouts in 1915. He went on to serve in Belgium in the Cameron Highlanders and Gordon Highlanders ultimately losing both legs to machinegun fire and shrapnel on the battlefield. Link to comment
Rod Posted July 28, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted July 28, 2019 The photo shows some of his mates in the Lovat Scouts ca. 1916. Link to comment
2032eric Posted July 29, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 29, 2019 Your grandfather paid a very high price, as many during this war... Interesting cap badge and picture, which one of the soldiers is he on the picture? Eric Link to comment
stratasfan Posted July 29, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2019 Ditto to Eric. Thanks for sharing the picture! Would love to know which is your Grampa! Link to comment
Rod Posted July 29, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted July 29, 2019 Thank's for your kind comments Eric and Stratasfan! Grandpa was tough as nails but modest, he never complained in spite of the lifelong pain and discomfort. I didn't post his picture although this was his photo and these men served in the Scouts with him. I wanted to show the cap badge being worn. The badge itself seems on the small side and, if experience is any indication, it's hard to find photos of the Lovat Scouts in full uniform. Link to comment
