Tonomachi Posted January 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2020 Yesterday I took a chance on buying this German helmet for $400.00 at a local flea market. The seller came down on his asking price as no one seemed interested. Luckily for me there was a much larger flea market/antique show on the same day and my competition was at that particular show. I normally don't buy WW2 German militaria due to all of the fakes on the market but I emailed photos to my competition who felt it might be real and there were other pieces which I purchased and one in particular was an infantry NCO hat which showed what looked like genuine wear with old sweat stains. The helmet is mint which is what had me worried as you would think that something 70 plus years old would show some wear. This is my first German helmet and hopefully is is a genuine period piece. Tonomachi Posted January 6, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted January 6, 2020 I also picked up a WW2 German backpack, NCO infantry hat, officer's belt and canteen which I've posted on other threads in their appropriate categories. This all came out of a storage locker somewhere in California.
Tonomachi Posted January 6, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted January 6, 2020 Lastly I'm guessing the writing on the inside is the former owner's name and serial number?
