kaydees Posted January 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2020 I just got this and wanted to share it and comments. This Type 30 bayonet was first manufactured at Matsyshita Kinzoku KK Arsenal (National Denki) than sometime later it was over stamped with a Navy Anchor. The blade is 15 1/2 inches long but matches the correct scabbard length. on the handle there is also a T III stamped. I thought it might be a Navy training Bayonet but is in very good condition. This bayonet is not found in Raymond Labar's book, "Bayonets of Japan". Kaydees Dwight Brown kaydees@embarqmail.com
St.Lukas Posted March 2, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2020 As you mentioned bayonet is not in LaBars nor Johnson's books on bayonets for a reason. In my opinion this is a post war added anchor
RussM Posted March 5, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 5, 2020 I don’t see any logic in over-stamping a manufacturer mark with a branch of service mark, in this case, an anchor for the navy. If someone wanted to designate this as a ‘navy’ bayonet, why obliterate a maker mark? It doesn’t make sense. I’d say it’s post war added as well, to try and increase value.
