Tonomachi Posted March 17, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2020 I've never come across a LDDN patch made this way so it is probably a copy. My question is does anybody know where these types of patches are being manufactured? The use of the off tan colored tight weave backing material that you see on original Vietnam War era patches is very convincing and troubling for us collectors. Tonomachi Posted March 17, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted March 17, 2020 Here is the back of an original Vietnam War era HA(L)-3 patch which has the same tight weave off tan colored backing material.
vintageproductions Posted March 17, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2020 Fake, made in the last few years in Vietnam. This one is also way smaller then a real one will be.
Tonomachi Posted March 18, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted March 18, 2020 Fake, made in the last few years in Vietnam. This one is also way smaller then a real one will be. Thanks for the confirmation. So those making these reproductions are now using a similar backing cloth as the originals.
vintageproductions Posted March 18, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 18, 2020 In person they are not even close to being the same.
gwb123 Posted March 18, 2020 Share #7 Posted March 18, 2020 Notice on the period original, the cloth covers all of the reverse threads. On the reproduction, they do not.

SSpike Posted August 9, 2020 Share #10 Posted August 9, 2020 Most if not all the LDNN pocket patches were printed. There were exceptions and I have some machine and hand made examples from the Clem Kelley collection. Plus the EOD patch was orange.
