Imperial Germany Gorget/Ringkragen Leib Kürassier Regiment

Gorget for 1st Leib Kürassier Regiment: it’s a 1896 Prussian Officer “ring collar” (or “Ringkragen” in German). It has "Non Soli Cedit" written on it, the motto of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I. It means "The Prussian eagle yields not even to the sun".

I think these are the last vestiges of armor. Was it the Luftwaffe that had them given as high honors in WWII?

 

Here's George Washington wearing one - wonder if that's when he was still loyal to the Crown?
