Proud Kraut Posted April 23, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2020 Some pictures of the wooden AK 47 "Uebungsgewehr" (training rifle). It was used for e.g. obstacle course or close combat training.

MattS Posted April 30, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 30, 2020 I had one of these and was told it was of Middle Eastern origin, I had no idea it was East German.
SARGE Posted April 30, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 30, 2020 What is neat about this wooden practice rifle is that the "bayonet" with a telescoping "blade" could be removed and used for hand to hand combat training as a knife. I have also seen these that have had the wooden "magazine" cut off. I presume that was a post cold war practice to make them less bulky to sell and ship? I remember the sound of the big plunger spring in it.
