bryang Posted April 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2020 A friend, who is a flea market vendor, picked this up for me. Its seen better days, but it was relatively inexpensive. No maker's mark on it. I posted this a while back in another international militaria forum and was informed that this blade may have been made sometime after 1850 or so. Also for $125 it was a good deal. I'm pleased to have it, as I only have a few Japanese items in my collection.

lambo35 Posted April 27, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2020 That is a cool project bryang, nice pick up. Possibly an "Ubu" (unaltered ) Japanese Tachi (blade). An interesting "Menuki" (a tsuka ornament, usually found one on each side) tied to the front of the "Tsuka" (handle)? Chuck
