The five (5) ribbon bar displays ribbons for: South Africa Medal (1880) Afghanistan Medal Kabul to Kandahar Star Egypt Medal Khedive's Star The four (4) ribbon bar displays ribbons for: Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Queen's South Africa Medal King's South Africa Medal Unknown red ribbon I think this is a beautiful set of ribbons to a old campaigner. If anyone can identify the bright red ribbon please let me know. Thank you.

Sumserbrown Posted January 6, 2023 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2023 Hi Bruce, the LSGC medal ribbon looks incorrect to me as this is the ribbon used from 1917 and your man would have qualified for his medal around 1896. Maybe he had to replace his original ribbon bar?? The red ribbon is difficult to distinguish as there are several possibilities. However, I am going to take a guess and say it is the 'Visit to Scotland medal 1903' as this would fit with his previous medal being the King's South Africa medal (1902) for service in the Boer War. The Visit to Scotland medal was struck to commemorate King Edward VII visit to Scotland in May 1903 and awarded to police and troops involved in parades and escort duties. I am guessing that his would probably put your soldier as Scottish and a member of the one of the Scottish regiments. best wishes Rob
