easterneagle87 Posted June 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2020 I have these two small insignia, one has ann eagle and one has a "6". Someone once told me they may be Postal. WW1 or Post WW1 Germany or Austria? Any ideas?
patches Posted June 16, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2020 It's possible, haven't seen where the Prussian/Germans or the Austro Hungarians used a Hunting Horn badge for their Jaegers (Light Infantry).
Proud Kraut Posted June 16, 2020 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2020 Patches is spot-on. Austrian K.u.K. Jaegerhorn Kappenabzeichen, I think these are pre 1918.

I wasn't sure they used these Hunting Horns, The Prussians certainly didn't, you get the credit for the ID Lars not me LOL, you're tip lead me to these. Jägerhut der k.u.k. Tiroler Jäger-Regimenter "Kaiserjäger" Uncertain though why some horns have the Habsburg Eagle in the center while others have Regimental Number
patches Posted June 17, 2020 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2020 And here's a 1914 Field example as worn on their Feldmuetze, it's a smaller version then worn on the Tiroler Hut. Yours appears to be this size for the Feldmetze and not the larger Hut size.
patches Posted February 26 Share #6 Posted February 26 Recently discovered that the two Saxon Jaeger Battalions as well as the Saxon 108th Rifles Regiment used the Hunting Horn, starting in 1909, it was placed under the Saxon Coat of Arms on the Shako Plate Two examples of it.
