Need Help Identifying Service Shoes

Hello all,

I have a pair of shoes that I bought at a surplus store this past weekend that I am trying to identify.  I have posted them in multiple forums and groups without any definitive answers.  I honestly am not sure what nationality they are, but hopefully, some one here can point me in the right direction.  I was told on the US forum, that they were not American.  Unfortunately, I can't find any remaining markings on the shoes.  The soles are pretty worn, especially on the heel, where the nails are showing through.  I can't tell if it had a horseshoe on the heel at one time or not.  If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
