There are a lot of fabricated / counterfeit pieces regarding Third Reich Collecting, this post is to help inform the newbie and seasoned enthusiast in identifying RAD fantasy items and fakes, we'll start the the 37' N.S. Arbeitsdienst Abtlg. Braunschweig 4/305 pin. These can be found utilizing either a painted or enameled surface, the reverse usually has a number 37 ( The year of manufacture ) above the pin, some have no number, and below the pin Ges Gesch with a triangle in between, with an abbreviation of what looks like a 'RADJ' or 'RJAD', this is incorrect, it is 'RLAD'  ( RLAD = Reichsleitung (RL) des Reichsarbeitsdienstes (AD) )  which is a Permisssion code from the Reichsleitung and the 'L' is actually reversed, also ANY Reichsarbeitsdienst item with the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) logo are to be considered 'Fake' as the RZM did not control the RAD at any time.

If you study the Arbeitsgau, it becomes clear that Abt. 4/305 was Mark Oberdorf which is quite a difference than Braunschweig, so if you have one of the 4/305 Braunschweig badges, it is a 'Fake'.

Jack the Collector, Thanks for taking the time to read the thread, I have never really thought about the size of these fakes compared to a original Himmighausen example, one would ASSUME they are similar in diameter and size..

Excellent information that clearly states why this badge is a fake.  With specific information like this collectors can avoid the pitfalls of mistaking what is a very good fantasy piece for a similar original.  This is the way we should critique items.  Just to declare something as a fake gives no explanation of why.  The why. such as in this thread, gives the reader power to see why it is a fake.

Good job Gwar!
